Dislocated finger-care following

I dislocated my left, ring finger 7 days ago.  The er told me a split was not necessary nor anything different besides icing for 72 hours.  I am very concerned because it looks better, however, the lidocaine injection bruised and stiffened my pinky finger as well.  Also, the lower joint (near the knuckle) is still swollen and I cannot bend it or the pinky (i.e. make a complete fist) all the way.  There is still a little pain when accidentally struck or when I press on the ring finger.  I really want to know if I should be exercising these fingers as I have been gently trying to bend them.  I know it is not broken as I had x-rays, but am wondering if I should make an appt. with an orthopedic doc.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello!

Without fracture you still having pain in the left ring finger suggest you damaged some soft tissue.
It may be a tendon or some ligaments. It would take some time for proper healing. Continue applying ice packs, take some anti inflammatory drugs and with decreasing pain you can start exercising.

Visit an orthopedician if you are not symptom free after next couple of days.

Take care!
