Dislocated my DIP knuckle

Dislocated my DIP knuckle

I was walking my dog and the finger got caught in the leash and snapped my DIP knuckle of my middle finger on my left hand about 45 degrees to the left. Its been about two weeks and the swelling has gone down.  The PIP knuckle bends, but stiffly, and the DIP only wiggles a little bit and doesn't have a full range of motion.  It hurts if I try to bend it farther. I can't afford a doctor because I just got fired and don't have insurance. Is there anything I can do? How long until it goes back to normal.  Its been a splint since the injury occurred.

Hello!

Check by an X-ray if you had a fracture as this is important. If there is no fracture then there is no necessary to wear a splint.

You can start movement and physical exercise of your middle finger, do not bend completely and do it slowly in a sustained way.  You might be having stiffness due to the splint you were wearing.

Take care!
