Dislocated rib?

Dislocated rib?

I have had horrible pain in my middle back for almost two weeks, since I hit myself really hard when I rammed a metal box I was carrying into a wall.  My doctor doesn't seem to know what the problem is.  It was first diagnosed as rhomboid strain.  I was told to take some pain pills and it would go away.  Nothing showed up as broken on an X-ray.  The pain hasn't gone away or decreased in intensity two weeks.

A massage therapist, an osteopathic doctor and a physical therapist have all said I have up to four ribs out of place.  They have tried to put them back where they belong, but the ribs don't stay.   I can't find much information on the internet about dislocated ribs.  Do you have suggestions of where I might find info?

Hello!

I would suggest you to go for present day scans and if there is some dislocation then follow up with an orthopedician.

Without a proper diagnosis it is no good in trying to pull them back.

Most rib dislocations are also treated with rest, ice, a lightly applied elastic wrap that splints the rib without compromising breathing, and medication for pain and swelling.

On some occasions, surgery might be necessary in order to reduce the dislocation and to repair ligament injuries.

Take care!
