Do i have ingrown toenails?

So like a month ago, i found out i had ingrown nail and it's a small piece of nail that digs into my skin. After like 30 minutes, i removed it by my self. Then everything was better, although there was still some pain. now, a few weeks ago, i was running and i came to an abrupt stop and i hurt my feet. the same feet with my original ingrown nail. The pain started again after like a week or so and when i look at the nail, i don't see any sharp corners digging in my skin. But the right side of my big toe is surrounded by red skin and it hurts when i push it. It doesn't hurt when i walk or run. And i have pretty short toenails so i don't know what to do. Is it another ingrown toenail?

Any ingrown toe nails can be easily visualized and diagnosed. There are infections which might occur in the nail bed or around the nails. You might have injured your toes and this can also contribute by wearing tight footwear.

I would suggest you to rest, to change your socks and footwear and to take some anti inflammatory medications.

Many people have thickened, discolored toenails. Many people have thickened, discolored toenails and fingernails. About 50% of these abnormal nails are due to a fungal infection of the nail.

I would suggest an examination near a physician if this continues for a proper diagnosis.
