Does bone tuberculosis cause limping

Hi,

I have bone tuberculosis and have pain in my leg bone near the right knee. I started taking anti TB medication. I am now limping due to the bone TB. My question is:- Will this limping be present if the bone TB gets cured due to the medication? Or, will the limping be a permanent deformity?

Thanks for your advice.

Hello!

Write in detail about your medications for my understanding.

Normally you have to take isoniazid, rifampicin, ethambutol and pyrazinamide for 2-3 months titrated properly for your weight and then followed by only isoniazid and rifampicin.

Go for follow up X-rays to confirm proper healing of your bone. You can have some side effects with use of antitubercular medications.

Take care!

Hello,

I am a female patient.  In my case, pls note the test results.
ESR - 58
Montaux : 25mm enduration
ELISA - IgG - 128
ELISA - IgM - 1.4

Please advise me that, am I a patient of TB?.  My only problems is that, I am getting deadly exhausted, feeling very week.  It seems that, there is no strength in my body and I cannot even move my fingers.  This happens now daily.  Ealier it was happening once in a month or like that.

Please give me an appropriate advise.

Hello!

As you are infected with tuberculosis I would suggest you not to do weight bearing on your legs. Use crutches, use walker etc and limit physical activity.

Take your anti tubercular medications on time and also take proper protein and calcium rich diet.

If your bone destruction stops and heals and if there is no much damage, you can improve the limp by physiotherapy, but if your bone destruction due to present infection has progressed then you would need surgical corrections if possible

Complete ATT and then follow up after 7-9 months with an orthopedician. After every 3 months go for an X-ray scan to understand your response to medicines.

Take care!
