Does my husband need a second opinion?

So a couple of weeks ago my husband took a weird step and ever since his surgically repaired knee has been bothering him.  He says it feels wobbly, the last time this was the case he had torn his patella.  He had an MRI on Friday and we were expecting the results yesterday or today.  When he was tired of waiting for the results he tried to call the PA he saw about the injury.  Not only was the PA not available but he was told that another doctor put a note on his file that it "looked good".  We live in rural Kansas and I was kind of shocked when there was no involvement of an orthopedic surgeon.  Is this normal?  Do we need to find a second opinion on his condition?  I really don't know what to do, all I know is that there is definitely something wrong with my husband's knee...

Yes, it won't hurt to get a 2nd opinion.
