Elbow tendon rupture?

Elbow tendon rupture?

I'm a 58-year-old aquatics instructor in a health club.  I also have RA.  While most of my workouts are in the water (low to high intensity, with and without resistance), I also like to do some floor workouts and lift -- but only very light weights, 1-3 lbs. max.  I take Celebrex and supplement with Tylenol arthritis formula (about 1800 mg. a day).
My elbows have bothered me for several years...but recently the pain on the left changed.  My g.p. said it was "golfer's elbow" and suggested I'd strained a tendon (I can recall no particular incident that caused this).  She recommended icing.  That worked for a week or two, but then the pain was back and worse than ever.  I am right-handed but do most gross motor movements with my left hand/arm.  I have also have had "trigger finger" surgeries on both hands -- 8 months ago on the left.  I made an appointment with an orthopod for later this week. But in the meantime...
The pain has escalated with every use.  Elevation above my chest causes weakness in the forearm, as does any kind of torsion, especially with resistance (even a few ounces).  Ice isn't working (although heat seems to help), and the pain now wakes me several times night.
Today things noticeably worsened.  I'd just started to lift 1 lb. weights above my head in a prone position (to work my triceps), when my left arm began to shake uncontrollably.  The pain seemed to shift from its locus on the "top" of the joint to a burning sensation from the joint to about 2 inches below the elbow on the forearm.  I also felt some attendant pain about 2 inches above the elbow.  Looking at the surface, I can identify a "flat spot" in the lower arm where I feel the burning sensation, and which is sore to the touch -- the same anatomical feature does not appear on the right forearm.
I'm guessing I might have ruptured something.. I prefer to approach the orthopod from a decent base of knowledge...but cruising the Internet to find information has only confused me.  From a distance, would anyone who's more medically savvy like to hazard a guess about what's going on?
