Foot Drop Question

Foot Drop Question

Earlier This year ( in march) I feel and dislocated my left knee.. They fix it, but I now have Foot drop.. I  cant lft my ankle towards my face and my foot drags when I walk.. I want to know what the treatment ( besides surgery) is there, I am also in need of a good foot brace to walk somewhat normal.. How long does it takes for a dislocated knee to fully heal.. it feels fine, I am just having problems with my foot drop ( I wear a knee for my knee)

Thanks

Hello Dear,
An ankle foot orthosis often is used in conservative treatment of foot drop. The specific purpose of an AFO is to provide toe dorsiflexion during the swing phase, medial and lateral stability at the ankle .
Ankles can be stabilized by lightweight orthosis, available in molded plastics as well as softer materials that use elastic properties to prevent foot drop. Additionally, shoes can be fit with springs to prevent foot drop while walking. Regular exercise is usually prescribed.
The latest treatments include stimulation of the peroneal nerve that lifts the foot when you step.
