Fracture of the Humerus; severe pain

Hello,

Last Thursday my mother fell and was diagnosed with a fractured humeral shaft closed, its been about 1 week now and her pain is unbearable when the slightest movement occurs in her arm, on a scale from 1-10 she says its an 11 after 7 days...she has been wearing a ordinary sling to hold the arm in place but she still feels pain...she was prescribed Percocet 5mg which can be taken 1 or 2 at a time, she has been taken 2 which is 10mg, with no pain relief, yesterday she was prescribed Vicodin for the pain, she has switched to that has been on it for a day and a half, and that has caused no pain relief as well...I have 3 questions:

1. I have done research online and read that a fractured humerus thats needs no surgery should be in a functional brace...however my mom has been wearing a sling, should she look into the brace instead for proper healing and pain relief?

2.I have also researched that Percocet and Vicion are very similar in pain relief, so even though she has not had any relief from both drugs, if she had to pick one to at least stay on for the coming weeks which would u recommend?

3. Its been 1 weeks since the fracture occurred, should she still be in this much pain 1 week in?
