Fracture?

by roguetide, Aug 31, 2009 11:23AM
I recently fell over and caught my upper forearm on a ridge of rock. I felt pain, but more of a bruise pain than shooting pains.  It was uncomftable to move because of swelling.  After going to the hospital, a nurse told me that the way I was able to move it, it was unlikely that I have fractured a bone, since I'm able to rotate my wrist and bend/extend my elbow with very little pain/discomfort.

Usually, the pain is little more than an ache, but occationally, I feel a sort of deeper throb for a second.  I have it wrapped in a bandage to minimize movement and have a slight pressure on it.  Is this going to hinder recovery?

Does it sound like a fracture?  Should I get it checked via xray?   The only reason I haven't already is because of the cost and health insurance issues.  (I am currently travelling in another country.)   Thanks.

Hello!

A simple X-ray would be sufficient to rule out any abnormality. You can take anti inflammatory drugs and rest your hands.

Take care!
