Fractured Tibia post op Knee Replacement

by kim2313, Sep 13, 2009 10:34PM
How common is a "stable" tibia fracture after total knee replacement surgery?  Is it common procedure to have xrays taken before discharge after knee replacement surgery?
Thanks for any help

To: kim2313,
Hello!

It is not common and occurs in few cases.
The X-rays are taken to understand the alignment and position of the bones and to be sure before discharge.
The advice depends on the orthopedic surgeon who wants to be sure. During the follow up for 3 months and 6 months till a year, you may be subsequently advised another X-ray.

Take care!
