Hi - how long was your recovery and do you mind me asking how old you are? Was it terribly painful? How long on crutches and did you like your surgeon. I too have gluteus medius tears and I'm in terrible pain!
Did you ever try PRP before surgery?
Lynn
Hi - did you ever have surgery and are you better yet? How was recovery and who was your surgeon?
I too am suffering with gluteus medius tears.
Thanks!
Lynn
I have been suffering from bilatral hip busitis for 2+ years.Nobody could find anything.Recently I was told that I have gluteal tear & laberal tear & needs surgery will be off work for 9 months.I am scared is it ok to do it or just continue without it.If not treated & rest would it repair by itself or will it make it worst.I too have lost my livelyhood.I am 51 year old lady.Help.
Hi,
I had a tear and just had a repair in December of 09 by Dr. David Fisher at OrthoIndy in Indiana. Go to DavidFishermd.com I think there is someone in New York at the Hospital for Special Surgery who does endoscopic repair too - good luck. I have had a great outcome so far.
OK...now we know the general diagnosis...but what is the cure?? treatment??? i am suffering from similar!
Hello JUD2SKI,
Greater trochanteric pain syndrome is commonly due to gluteus minimus or medius injury rather than trochanteric bursitis. Gluteal tendinopathy most frequently occurs in late-middle aged females. Tears and tendinopathy of the gluteus medius and minimus are potentially underrecognized clinical sources of hip pain. Magnetic resonance imaging is useful in diagnosing gluteal tears. This entity is frequently a result of predisposing conditions but may arise spontaneously. This clinical problem should be considered in the differential diagnosis of patients presenting with acute hip pain.
