Heel/Foot Pain

by JenNYC16, Jul 02, 2009 06:28PM
I'm a 24 year old female, and about 5-6 days ago I was walking and started feeling a slight pain in the bottom, front part of my left heel, closer to the arch of my foot. It slowly started to get worse throughout the day, and continued getting worse in the 2-3 days following. It was a sharp pain that hurt whenever I put pressure down onto my foot, making standing or walking extremely uncomfortable, at times unbearable. The next day I started noticing that the pain seemed not to be so much on the bottom of my heel anymore, but more towards the left side of it and up the side of my foot.

I’ve spent the past 3 days trying my best to stay off it and rest, icing it a few times throughout the day. Since I had mostly been walking around my apartment only, the pain seemed to be subsiding, until today I went for a walk outside and before even reaching the corner of my street, the sharp pain was immediately back, again towards the side of my heel and foot now.

I had not done anything out of the ordinary that I can think of that would cause something like this out of the blue. I exercise and go to the gym regularly, so I can’t imagine it being from that. A friend suggested it could be heel spurs, but once the pain moved towards the side of my foot, I didn't really think that could still be the cause.

There’s no sign of swelling or bruising so I am not sure at all what this could be, or any other options to help make this pain go away.

I am thinking bone spurs. You need to see a podiatrist to have test done to see what is going on. I suggest ice and heat and maybe an anti inflammatory for pain in the mean time. You can alternate the ibuprofen and Tylenol so you will have better pain control. They do sell foot creams that are for foot pain over the counter but I am not sure they will help.
