Hip pain and muscle weakness

When I was 5 years old, I had septic hip surgery. No reason for the infection was ever found. I went without pain for about 10 years, and then I began to have crippling pain again. I could not walk without it hurting, and it got so bad that I just sat around. I visited several doctors before one finally found that I had severe scar tissue build up from the past surgery. The doctor cleaned out my acetabulum and shaved some of the bone away. He also noticed that I have retroversion of the acetabula of both hips.

After the surgery, I went to physical therapy for many months, but recently I began to get weaker and weaker. I can no longer lift my leg up at all, and both hips make a horrible grinding sound when I move in any direction, even to sit down. It hurts terribly, and I cannot understand what is going on. I am severely weak in both legs, and it happened all of the sudden. I walk very unsteadily, and I have to use a cane. My hips also pop out of the socket a lot, especially when I go upstairs, which is incredibly difficult for me.

I also experienced tremors in my right arm and leg, which a neurologist attributed to anxiety, after many MRIs and EEGs.

I am only 17 years old, and I have had ablation done on my heart for SVT, and I have asthma as well. What is going on with me? Why are my legs suddenly so weak?? I was also told that I have arthritis due to the surgeries I have had, but that my pain is more severe than shows on x-rays and MRI/arthrograms.

I would like to find out what is wrong with me..! It's confusing.

I also have been diagnosed with minor scoliosis in the T5-6 area, if this helps.

There is a phenomenal hip doctor in Boston at Children's Hospital there. His name is Michael Millis.  My daughter had hip displaysia that was not diagnosed until she was 20 years old. Everyone in Philadelphia said hip replacement was our only option.  We sent Dr. Millis her x-rays, he did surgery, one that he has perfected, and she is walking great with little residual discomfort. Sheis now 24. He is the best and genuinely cares. I would contact him about any hip concerns. Hips are all he does.
Good luck. Don't settle, fight for the best care you can get. You must do your own research and be your own advocate.
