How are you feeling?
You are quite young and the surgery to heal won’t take long time.
I didn’t understand "afos on both legs" in your post.
Ankle fusion surgery is also called as ankle arthrodesis. It's a procedure performed for the treatment of ankle arthritis. Here, surgeons would remove worn out joint surfaces, ankle bones are held together with metal implants, and the bone surfaces heal in this position. The joint is permanently stiff after ankle fusion, but the result of surgery is pain-free joint.
Ankle fusion surgery is usually followed by overnight stay in the hospital.
Patients are placed in a cast and will remain off of the affected ankle by using crutches or a walker. This allows new bone to heal across the fused joint.
Once after we have confirmed that the bone has started to fuse, patients can begin to place weight on the joint.
Keep me informed about your disease progression and also what the doctor has to say about this.
Bye.
