How to secure a fractured pinky bone in addition to a splint

My son fractured his right pinky bone while playing football.  The doctor says the brake is from the knuckle joint to the joint at the palm on the right side of the pinky bone.  Doc immobilized it with a small splint and said no football for a week.  My son really really wants to play, so I'm wondering if there's anything else we can do to secure it in addition to the splint that it currently on it.  Help?  Thanks!

Hi there!

A splint is all that should be necessary and there isn’t anything else that can be used to stabilize the finger (except a surgery). It is highly essential not to disturb/ move the finger, for which football ‘must’ be avoided, no matter how badly he wants to play; unless you would want to run the risk of an unhealed fracture or a future surgery
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
