I think I have a Pseudo-Jones fracture...BLA!

Hi there. I have been experiencing some pain on the outside of my right foot while walking for extended periods of time (at the mall during x-mas shopping) etc. And finally went to a Podiatrist WITHOUT insurance. He talked to me for over an hour about wearing better shoes, working out (definitely could loose a few, but not morbidly obese or anything), etc. He said he didn't think it would be anything severe but he would do an x-ray anyway. He did 2 x-rays and it looked like the piece of my bone at the top end of the fifth metatarsel was broken.. and not just broken, broken OFF. He said it looked to be an old fracutre and that I should just A. wear sneakers more than flipflops and B. If that doesn't help then to get orthapedic inserts. Now, I don't know if he didn't put me in a boot because he didn't think I had the money for it.... or if because it's too old of a break to fix, but I would like a second opinion. ANY opinion would be nice. I'm a recently graduated, yet unemployed, young adult without health insurance, but I'm willing to visit another podiatrist if need be (I'll throw it on a credit card, whatever). He said it looked like a "marcher's break" and sent me on my way. The bone was broken off, completely. From what I've been reading that's not a Jones Fracture, but a Pseudo-Jones fracture. Yeah, that's for taking my $120 and sending me on my way dude. What should I do? What can I do? Assuming like he said, it's old. And it's broken off? I can call him and get a copy of the x-rays if you'd like to see them. I am in no way in a great amount of pain, it was just after the holiday season and visiting my mom where I did a LOT of walking when it started to bug me. It does hurt a little after I work out, but I'm only doing the elliptical and not walking on the treadmill hoping to avoid the pain. When the pain is there, it's on the outside of the side of my right foot, as well as under the front of the foot, but again, more towards the outside.
