I'm at a loss

I'm 29, and all of the sudden my knees have taken over my life, and I'm at a loss.. 13 years ago I was in a car accident and apparently had knee injuries that I didn't know about then. About 14 months ago I went to my family doctor and they suggested an MRI of my right knee since it was giving out, swelling, and over not stable. It came back positive for an ACL tear. I was referred to an ortho surgeon. I went to him, and told me he wasn't completely sure it would involve surgery or not. He also told me, I had infarcts, and said that was a sign of aseptic necrosis. We talked, I looked it up and researched it, and learned I had bone death in my knees. He decided to get me a date for surgery to go in and check out my knee. I had an bpb ACL reconstruction, and it was amazing. Through therapy and after surgery I realized how much better I felt and more stable my knee was. I was out of work for 5.5 months and since then it's just not been as good. Once things finally got settled with my right knee, we started on my left knee. After another MRI, he told me it wasn't like the right one and didn't need surgery. That was a bit of relief, but now and since, I've been having to get my knees drained about every 3 months. I'm in 2 donjoy hinged knee braces that I alternate, and probably don't use as much as I should, but they do help. My job is demanding with my knees and so are hobbies of my own. Last week, my dogs took me down the stairs and I went to the hospital because it was on the weekend and they were swelling so much. After the Xrays, the doctor came back in to inform me both my knees were fractured at the head of the femurs. I went to my ortho surgeon the next morning, and he told me they weren't as bad as they thought but were fractured and I was put in 2 immobilizers and had both knees drained, yet again. I noticed, for the first time in the past year, that he always makes it a point to come in and check that there isn't any blood in the fluid. Is that normal for them to ask that, everytime... I think I need to find a new job and don't understand why I'm having to have them drained so much and why they are still swelling and painful after the surgery, bracing, and everything else. Should I go and get a second opinion, or is this normal?
