Injury to knee post TKP

Injury to knee post TKP

I had my left knee replaced in 2009 and my right in 2010. No problems with either knee during recuperation and PT. Three months after the right knee replacement I was trying to slide my right foot into shoe and something serious snapped. The pain was instanteous and I actually went into shock due to the pain. As a side note I have rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia so I live in pain every day and take 30 mg of contolled release morphinr daily plus Lyrica and I know I will never be pain free. The rght knee swelled, both front and back making bending the knee difficult. It's been 6 motnhs, I've had every test and scan known to man and nothing shows up. I am in minimal pain if I relax with my leg elevated but and activity, walking, standing, litertally anything but bedrest and the swelling intensifies. My sirgeon is stumped, I have occasional patella clunk and I want to be as mobile as I was 3 months abter the TKR. I'm now scheduled for surgery the end of March to open the knee up and see what's happening. Any ideas or exxperience with this scenario as to what went wrong tobegun with and why I have not healed by now?.

Hello!

You should go for present day scans and if there are no complications then continue physiotherapy for recovery. You can take pain killers and apply ice packs for the pain. You should remember that you are also a patient of rheumatoid arthritis which can give you all the pain

You can take a second opinion and make your scans commented by an expert radiologist for best answer.

The final solution is to go for opening of the surgical site as suggested by your orthopedician

Take care!
