K wire post toe surgery

I had foot surgery about 6 weeks ago, my appointment to have the k wire removed for the second toe which was shortened  is soon but the wire is working its way out of my foot and now extends about 1 and 1/2 inches beyond the toe, is this normal?

Thank you for your comment, I did see my DR. and he assured me that it was normal for the pin to "work its way out eventually" and he removed it six weeks after the surgery, all is well.

Hi there!

Well, without knowing the relevant clinical details or a detailed clinical evaluation it would be difficult to comment specifically on the situation. This could be within the normal range or could indicate a complication. It would be best to discuss this with your treating orthopedician at the review for suggestion of an appropriate management plan.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
