Knee Arthroscopy Post-op Recovery

Knee Arthroscopy Post-op Recovery

Hello, I had Knee Arthroscopy Surgery about 2 months ago now. X-ray prior showed nothing, neither did the MRI. My doctor preformed a coupld of physical tests which my knee shifted about an inch. The reason I was looking into my knee was from what I would say was a hyper-extention from playing sports and I had significant pain in the back of my leg, behind the knee. So anyway, My doctor told me that he should get in there and take a look, so we went through with the surgery and I had hoped that I would be all good again. Apparently there had been a slight tear in my acl, which the doctor cleaned up, it was not reconstructed. Also, there was an already healed tear in my medial meniscus, which he preformed a debridgment on, my understanding is just cleaning up the tear and the way is previously healed. The document given to me states this was my post-op diagnosis: 1) Partial tear right anterior cruciate ligament. 2) Incomplete tear right medial meniscus. 3) Fibrotic right medial plica. 4) Post tramatic arthritis right knee. 5) Fat Pad impingement right knee. From what I understand of this is that he fix all these problems and provided debridgment where required. So here is the issue, I have been meticulous in my approach for recovery, including physical therepy, ice, rest...etc. Still have some swelling which the doctor gave me a Corizone shot for that, which seemed to help push some swelling out. But I still have problems with range of motion, walking with a limp, challenges keeping knee straight. I am doing all that I can, but need some help to get this knee working properly again. Please help, i'm 28 and I want to be able to at least walk normal and maybe a little running again. Any suggestions would help.

Hello!

As you had Grade I and Grade II tears and had surgical repair it will take time for your ligaments and soft tissue to recover after this arthroscopic procedure.

You would need proper physiotherapy to strengthen your knee joint after recovery.

The arthritis in your right knee is a long term concern so be careful and adopt proper life style changes and wear good and comfortable footwear. Talk with your orthopedician and discuss the outcome of the surgery he has conducted.

Take care!
