Knee Bruising after running.

Having started running recently I have noticed two bruises at the top left and right of my left knee. These are rather severe bruises painful to the touch, however I have not fallen or twisted my knee at any stage. The right knee is fine. the bruises started subsiding but when I went for a run last night they were back by the morning worse than ever. Any ideas if its serious or if I just need a support?

Thanks for your help,

Dom.

Hello!

I would suggest you to rest for couple of days, to apply ice packs and take NSAIDs to decrease the inflammation.

If the bruising and inflammation continues then get yourself examined by an orthopedician. Go for scans for a proper diagnosis.

Rule out any local infection or injury at the site. There might be some ligament or other soft tissue involvement.

Take care!
