Knee MRI results

2. Involving the cartilage of the apex and lateral facet of the patella, there is diffuse signal heterogeneity with surface irregularity and fissuring to the bone. In addition, there is a cartilaginous fissure to the bone involving the lateral tibial plateau.
3. Linear signal in the semimembranosus tendon compatible with tendinosis.

Hi!
You basically have weakening of the cartilage (chondromalacia) of the patella and the lateral condyle resulting in fissures (Grade III injury). Sometimes this is due to rheumatoid arthritis. This is usually treated with chondroplasty where the damaged articular flaps and loose pieces are removed to smoothen the articular surface. Apart from this there is tendinosis or inflammation of a tendon. This is treated with rest, ice, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and physiotherapy. Please consult your treating doctor.
