Knee Technology

I am a 71 y/o and very athletic candidate for knee replacement.  The choices are Standard hinge or Rolling Platform. My initial choice of surgeon does not handle the rolling platform type. Being into hi-tech in general, I am reluctant to go with the older choice. I would have to change surgeons if I opted for the RP. Is the RP prothesis so much better? And is there any down-side risk? Thanks in advance.
