Knee bruise or tendon rupture?

Last Sunday, 9/14, I got kicked in the front of my knee playing soccer and landed awkwardly on my knee causing me to scream and cry in pain. I've injured my knees, ankles, shoulder, and wrists before and have never been in as much pain as I experienced on Sunday. After taking ibuprofen, icing my knee, and freezing it with a special sports spray, I continued to play in the game. Afterwards I was in unbearable pain. I went to the ER where they took x-rays that were negative, and said that they were concerned about my patellar ligament, but couldn't diagnose anything since the knee was so swollen. I got a brace and crutches and saw my orthopedic doctor the next day. He said that he didn't feel any ligament problems but it was hard to tell due to the swelling and the amount of pain that i had concerned him. So I had an MRI taken yesterday.

My coaches think that I just have a contused (bruised) knee, but doctors are worried about a torn ligament. This morning I woke up with 4 lumps and bruises surrounding my kneecap. I went online and read that this could be a symptom of a ruptured patellar tendon, or a symptom of a bone bruise. Does anyone know which it is?
