Knee manipulation

by ladylou100, Mar 04, 2009 04:54PM
After 3 months since my TKR, I had 7 weeks in home therapy (even thought I was 100% mobile after 2 weeks)  PT just didn't know what "SHE" was doing!  I have just now had 5 weeks of out pt  PT  which has been very agressive I have scar tissue that keeps me from straightening the leg completely. Dr. is doing a manipulation. How much of a set back is this going to be?  I thought I'd walk well by now and this news has me so sad and frustrated.

hi ladylou,
that's very sad that you are still suffering, though you had a TKR.
Manipulation is for relieving the adhesion/scar tissue around the site. But following manipulation, you will require some rest to heal up your tissues which have been relieved.
Don't worry. You can ask him to put you on CPM (Controlled passive Motion) machine, otherwise you may again get adhesion following manipulation.
