Knee pain (on kneeling only)

For a number of year I have suffered sharp & sudden pain on the  the front of my petellas/knees when kneeling. It feels almost as though I have bone splinters or small sharp objects under the skin of my knees). The pain is such that I cant bear to kneel. I'm 50 years old, a regular gym'er and swimmer  I am pretty fit and active in every other way, and do not experience any other pain in any other knee position or activity with my knees. There is no pain inside my knee joint or to the sides or behind my knees. When I press my fingers on my knee I can feel that is  a bit grissly in small areas with some sensitivity. Any ideas on the reason would be appreciated.

Take a look at "housemaids knee" or bursitis - I think that's what you andvi have probably got. Hope it helps! Steve

Hello!

You might have had a past ligament tear and it might have not healed.

Go for an X-ray scan to rule out arthritis.

You also have to go for an MRI to diagnose any soft tissue issues. Your 3 pairs of ligaments in your knee should be intact for proper flexion, extension and weight bearing.

Go for an examination near an orthopedician and diagnose your condition.

Take care!

Hi, I experience what sounds like the very same symptoms and have done for several years. I am 42 now and still have no idea what causes it. I tend to forget about the problem as it only affects me when I kneel. Its like I have knelt on needles and I get a fright at the sharp pain. I have tried to feel what is causing it, but cant find anything, and until now have never heard of anyone else experiencing this
