by Christy H, Apr 14, 2007 12:00AM
my husband had surgery last money and his pain is what he rated as a 10 out of 10 but they kicked him out of the hospital anyway. We ended up in the ER 6 hours later with severe pain and fever of 102. Now my husband has a swollen foot. what is the problem and what can I do to help him feel better and calm my nerves and be able to sleep. i feel like I have a new born and will wake up everytime he moves or makes a sound. I am so scared!!! Please help calm em down

does he ice and elevate his knee constantly? the reason his foot is swollen is probably because he didnt keep it elevated. the saying goes "put your toes above your nose" when he got his surgery did the doc give him pain meds? if not go back to a physician of clinic and tell them your situation to get some stronger pain relievers.

hope this could help.

I had knee surgery a couple of years ago, and my pain was also 10 out of 10 and the only medication that seemed to work was Demoral.  The swelling in the foot was probably due to not keeping it elevated.
