L sternoclavicular joint dislocation

Hello to all -
I dislocate my L sternoclavicular joint approx 2 years ago driving Go-carts. It has been grinding back and forth and I can't sleep on my L side due to severe pain and I initially had a chiropractor try to push it back and it was immobilized but nothing helps. I now have arthritis in the joint and it's even worse. My chiropractor said they could wire it together. Is this even possible? I am weight training and I can't even do some of the lifts or even some Yoga poses. PLEASE HELP. I see an ortho guy today for my 2nd opinion. This is making my life miserable. Thank You. -- Jeannine

Hi Jeannine!

Symptomatic cases of sternoclavicular joint dislocation may require a surgical repair. I would suggest consulting an orthopedician for an evaluation if this would need to/ could be fixed. I am not sure if chiropractors have expertise/ license to perform surgeries, especially since this is a delicate area carrying risk of damage to the surrounding blood vessels and would still suggest seen an orthopedician about it.
