Hi,
How are you? Sacralisation is a condition where the 5th lumbar vertebra is found fused with the sacrum unilaterally or bilaterally, partially or completely. This is a most common congenital abnormality. Patient’s become symptomatic only in the third or fourth decades.
Sacralisation alters the mechanics of the region and puts an extra strain on the rest of the lumbar spine, resembling lumbo-sacral strain or instability.
Treatment includes spinal extension exercises which brace up the back muscles and improve the spinal muscles tone. If exercises are contraindicated due to medical reasons, a lumbo-sacral support will help in relieving pain.
Best.
