Large lump on outer thigh after impact injury

When I was 12 years old I was hit by a pick up truck that threw me into a large rock.  When I was thrown into the rock my outer thigh is what landed directly on it.  Ever since that accident I have had a large lump on my outer thigh that you can see my veins through my skin, has no feeling unless it is hit hard (but the feeling is still not normal), and gets larger as I gain weight.  I haven't gained that much weight, maybe about 5 lbs, but the bump has grown a noticeable amount.  Now I am starting to get stretch marks on just this thigh on the inside and it is becoming more sensitive.  Do you have any suggestions on what this could be, or how to get rid of it?  When I went to the hospital when I got hit I was told that it was a hematoma and should be gone within six months.  Well I will just restate that I was 12 when this injury occurred, and I am now 19.

Hi there!

Well, without an evaluation and a probably a few tests it would be difficult to point out the cause of swelling in your case. Possibilities include organized haematoma, fractures, dislocations, bone outgrowths, growths from the connective tissue etc. Relative numbness could be due to pressure on or damage to the supplying nerve. It would be best to get this evaluated by an internist/ orthopedician for a diagnosis and appropriate management.
Hope this was useful.

Take care!

Hi, You need to go back to the hospital about this. Just get it checked out and then you can fel better about it. It is probably normal for you. It would grow as you grow but just amke sure that it is nothing else but scar tissue. Good luck hope this helps
