Lateral Retinacular Release

Lateral Retinacular Release

Hey all.  I've been having problems with L knee since I fell through a deck about a year ago, have gone through therapy and Orthovisc injections to no avail.  Now I am looking at having to have this lateral retinacular release surgery.  I have never heard of this surgery and from what I understand it is fairly rare.  Basically they will cut a tendon to liberate my kneecap to slide in the groove where it should.  Right now it slides out to the right and above the normal groove.  I've done some research and not had all good results.  Anybody out there had this surgery?  Any docs care to contribute?  All info will be appreciated.  Thanks!
