Limited arm movement

Hi..For the past year and a half, I have experienced pain in the underpart of my arm. At first, it only hurt when I reached a certain way. At first, the doctor said I had tendinitis and I had to try therapy. The only problem was I couldn't do the exercises she gave me to do, which was to place my hand and lower arm on the wall and walk forward.
Now the inside of my upper arm is in constant pain and any reaching or lifting of my arm sends me into excruciating pain. The doctor then put me on anti-inflammatory pills, which didn't work, cortisone shot, which didn't work. He finally ordered an MRI, which showed no tendinitis or rotor cuff tear. I am now on Oxycontin and it still doesn't get rid of the pain. He has now ordered an x-ray and a nuclear bone scan which I go for next week. He is thinking maybe now that it is something to do with either the shoulder bone or bone in my upper arm. Has anyone else had this problem and if so what was your diagnosis and treatment?

In relation to the above entry, I would like to say that I was finally diagnosed with frozen shoulder. The orthopedic surgeon that I have seen said that when it is painful like that, it is in the beginning stages. As it progresses, the pain will diminish (which it has). With physiotherapy, range of motion can be reattained but it is painful, slow and tedious. I never did finish my therapy and as a result can't raise my arm above my head but at least the pain is now gone. I developed thyroid cancer and had to have 2 surgeries which is why I never did finish therapy. What happens is scar tissue forms over the tendons and muscles and therapy helps to rip the scar tissue away. If you do get frozen shoulder, see a therapist and do the exercises faithfully and you will regain back total use of your arm.
