MR tendon tear

MR tendon tear

hello,

I would like to know if
1.  can an  MR show no tear for the rotator cuff although there is one.
2. can an MR show a full tear or partial tear while there is no tear.
3. can it show that the rotator cuff is just injured.

Hi,
I feel you have some concern over the findings in your MR.
MR Investigations would show what the injury is; it is always a misinterpretation which makes the image consistent or inconsistent with clinical findings.
It is indeed not possible for MR to show no tear if there is one. It is also not possible to show tear if there is not present.
It is indeed possible to report that rotator cuff is just injured depending on signal intensities.
I think you should be showing your scans to neuro-radiologist for review.
Keep me informed about your decision and your discussion with neuro-radiologist.
Bye.
