MRI Results

I was wondering if someone could help me understand these results. My appointment with my doctor is really far out. I have been in pain for quite some time and finally got a er doctor to give me an MRI. I have had neurological symptoms but they dont match up with any tests and bunch of other symptoms that I was told was stress induced for awhile. I was starting to believe I was crazy untill now.

There is desiccation of the T11-T12 disc with a left lateral/intraspinal disc protrusion causing mild canal stenosis and effacement of the lower thoracic subarachnoid space with slight cord flattening. There is aslo facet joint hypertrophy of the L4-5. The Nurse and I talked a bit a bout it over the phone but she only confused me. One of these issues has caused something to soften and turn to powder and she also told me one of these issues is hereditary but im not sure which one. I am in bad pain and im only 30. Can someone help me understand it a bit better.

Hi there!

This MRI essentially shows an intervertebral disc degeneration at the lower thoracic spine (T11-T12), causing narrowing of the spinal canal and pressure on the spinal cord. There is increased growth (hypertrophy) noted around the facet joints (vertebral joint) at the lower spine (lumbar) level (L4-L5). This can occur secondary to degeneration and may progress to cause pressure on the spinal nerves.
Hope this helps.

Take care!
