MRI:Herniation of nucleus pulposus through radial tear in disc annulus at C6-7 level

My wife's age is 34 years. She was feeling pain on her neck and shoulder(leftside). we contacted ortho he recommened for MRI of cervical spine. the results of MRI are as follows:
1.There is straightening of usual cervical spinal curve with especially striking left paramedian posterior herniation of nucleus pulposus through radial tear in disc annulus at C6-7 level, Which has compressed the thecal sac and significantly compromised lateral spinal recess with likely impingement upon the exiting nerve root.
2.Smaller right paramedian posterior protruded disc is seen indenting the thecal sac at C4-5 level.
3.At other disc levels , cervical intervertebral foramina appear adequatly capacious.
4.Height and alignment of cervical vertebrae is maintained.
5.The cervicomedullary and craniovertebral junctions show normal soft tissue and bony relationship.

We met ortho spine sergeon who suggested for the sergury.
Could you please guide us what should we do? whether to go for sergury or continue taking medicines?

Thanks in advance.
