Marcodactyly

My daughter was born 1/12/08.  On her left hand her ring finger is slightly bigger than all the rest of her fingers.  Her left foot is also 1 1/2 cm bigger than her right foot and her second toe is much longer.  She was born with KTW--she has a large hemangioma and it can cause vascular anomolies.  What if anything can be done for her finger/foot?  I am concerned that it may pose a problem for her when she gets ready to walk.  She was evaluated at the children's hospital in the genetics clinic but they just want to see her in six months.  Any information you can provide would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi,
How is your child doing?
I assume by saying that he is diagnosed with KTW means that he is having Klippel-Trenauny-weber syndrome.
In this the child is having asymmetric limb hypertrophy with vascular malformations and cutaneous Naevi.
Most patients would require only compression from an elastic stocking.
Skin ulcers and other skin problems can occur over the swollen leg. Usually, the treatment is conservative. Surgery is almost never needed.
The cause of KTW syndrome is unknown.
Keep me informed if you have any queries.
Bye.
