How long should a patient continue to take Supartz injections?  is it a lifetime thing?

Hello!

Viscosupplementation involves the injection of gel like substances (hyaluronates) into a joint to supplement the viscous properties of synovial fluid.

Currently, these injections are approved for osteoarthritis of the knee joint, when more conservative treatments have failed. You can try a set of three injections for relief from Supartz or as indicated by your orthopedician.

If you have any relief then you can repeat them again but you have to remember that this is no permanent cure for your osteoarthritis.
