Muscular dent in calf

Muscular dent in calf

About 2 months ago I fell forward down a short set of steps.  I fell awkwardly landing on my hands, but my right foot and left calf caught most of it.  I scraped a significant amount of skin on the edge of the wooden steps on my left leg, but now I have a dent in the muslce.  The skin never fully broke and I had a nasty bruise for a bit, but all that healed leaving me with this dent.  There's no pain, but I'm a heavy girl (250lbs./5'8") and am worried that it could lead to clots or worse.  Should I be concerned??

You would need an expert Orthopaedician examination. He will grade your injury.

If your muscle is healing properly and as there is no pain you will be fine.

Gastrocnemius strain (calf muscle pull) Calf muscle strains typically occur ... often producing an obvious "dent" or "gap" under the skin.

The blood clot or hematoma normally is absorbed gradually.

Rest the injured muscle (take a temporary break from sports activities). Ice the injured area to reduce swelling. Compress the muscle with an elastic bandage. Elevate the injured leg.

Most Grade I or Grade II strains begin to feel better within a few days. In most cases, symptoms are either totally gone, or very much improved, within eight to 10 weeks. Symptoms of a Grade III strain may persist until it is repaired surgically.
