My daughters hand

My daughters hand

My 10 year old daughter fractured her growth plate about 5-6 weeks ago.She did wear a cast and it was removed on the 28th of Oct. She came to me today showing me that right below her finger nails on all fingers they are swollen. They are puffy looking. She says that her wrist is starting to hurt and her fingers do all so.I was wondering if her finger problem is related to her accident with her wrist.I have not seen anything like this before. If you would like to see pictures and I can try and add them to here, just let me know. If at all you might know what would cause her fingers to swell please let me know..

                  Thank you,

Hello,

After removal of cast there is some amount of inflammation due to active movements. You have to understand that she would have stiffness as her hand was in cast all the time for 5-6 weeks. If the healing was good there is nothing to worry.

Give her some anti inflammatory drugs and also use some ice packs to decrease the inflammation.

If this does not help then take her for an examination to the physician who treated her, orthopedician is preferred.

Take care!
