Obesity and lumbar spondylosis

Obesity and lumbar spondylosis

My mother had lumbar spondylosis at L1 and L2 ligaments 1.5 year back.. Iut was treated with chemotherapy and pain reduced
she'll get pain when she does household work that involve mechanical exercises like bending,,,

height : 4.75 ft
Weight : 95 kg
Hence obesity is more
So she was asking for treadmill to do exercises

question:
Which type of exercises are correct? To reduce obesity without indulging back pain

Accordingly I'll choose motor rotated or manual treadmill

Hi there!

With increased weight there is increased strain on the spine that can further complicate the degenerative process. I would suggest seeing a physiotherapist for exercises that would suit her, that strengthen the back muscles without putting extra strain on the spine and then move on to weight reduction exercises. She may need to modify her dietary intake as well. Manual treadmill puts an increased strain on the spine and hence motorized treadmills are preferred in such patients.

Hope this was useful.

Take care!
