Old ankle sprain

Old ankle sprain

Hello, I sprained my right ankle some 18 years ago.  It was swollen and bruised from an outward turn.  Noticed it was easily rolled out after that but no other problems.  Different phases of fitness training improved ankle but always felt too willing to roll outward on uneaven ground.  This year aged 43 for the first time the joint is becoming stff if I sit for even a small time.  I limp until the joint warms up.  I am woried that the stiffness has started after all this time.  Is it related to aging?  Is surgery now wrth trying.  I know that by the time you reach 60 years you will be told it is too late so maybe a case of short term pain, long term gain.  What do you think?.

Hello!

Whenever your ligament tear does not heal and have an unstable joint there is always a reason for arthritis to develop in the joint or any complication in the future.

I think you have to visit an Orthopedician for examination, latest X-ray and MRI and if surgery is an option you have to consider curing this nagging problem.

Take care!
