Orthopedic Surgeon that Accepts Medicaid

I live in Taylor County and need to have surgery on my shoulder for numerous injuries. I only have straight Medicaid and do not have the option for an HMO in this area. My referring physician can not locate a surgeon that accepts straight Medicaid. They have checked in surrounding counties and can not find one that accepts Medicaid out of the area. My local Medicaid office can not help me. They suggest finding a surgeon anywhere in Florida that will work with the local office on payment. Does anyone out there know of an orthopedic surgeon anywhere in Florida that accepts straight Medicaid regardless if they live in their area. I am willing to travel anywhere to have this surgery.

I too am in Florida, (Jacksonville)  Same problem here.  Need an othopedic surgeon ASAP.  Have been suffering from a rare condition in my foot for the past 12 years.  Have mostly ignored the pain because I didn't have any insurance.  I now have Medicaid, but the podiatrist has nobody to refer me to and says I need surgery very soon.  I am on a search for all of Florida.  I have even one better though, my podiatrist says because my condition is so rare, not many orthopedic surgeons have the experience necessary to perform the surgery.  And, if I go to just any orthopedic who hasn't performed the surgery I need many many times, i will come out worse than I went in.  So, on top of making sure they accept Medicaid, I also need to make sure they are qualified to help my rare condition.  Ugh!!

My podiatrist did mention that there are orthopedic surgeons in the panhandle though that accept medicaid.  Also, Orlando and Tampa.  Have not found any to help with my condition, but maybe they can help you if you haven't already had surgery.

And, if you did find someone, I'd be interested in their name ;)

I feel your pain, it really ***** no orthopedic surgeons accepts Medicaid, I am suffering with a spot/diseased tissue on my lower spine, I had a MRI done, and this was the result, still searching, and also I have a bad knee problem, I may need a knee replacement,, It is so frustrating that no specialist would take Medicaid,,WHY?, how long do I have to suffer with this pain, and take medication doesn't do the trick no more. I need results now...
