Outer left knee pain

Mp5
Hello,

I am a 28 year old ex military man. Wile in the service during training I felt a sharp pain in my outer left knee. It was intence for awile but then it went away so ofcourse being mr military i did not complain. Now I am out of the military and trying ot get back in shape. I have noticed that if i try and jump and pull my left heal to my butt and down. I get a shap pain on the left side of my left knee. I dont' know how to explain the pain as anything except a stabbing feeling. Any help would be great on this subject. Should I go see a doc. Or is this a "Im getting old on my used body" pain?

Good Morning,

Iliotibial band syndrome may be something you might want to rule out too.  By all means as Dr. Vinod stated rule out any ligament damage.

An over-supinated gait coupled with an the wrong type of training shoe may also cause strain on your L.C.L. (Lateral collateral ligament) so a referral to see a podiatrist or pedorthist to be fitted in proper footwear and foot orthoses might help resolve this pain.

Best Regards

Hello!

I would suggest you to rule out any ligament damage in your knees as this may give rise to chronic problems also in the future.

On the lateral side you have lateral collateral ligament and also in the back of your knee you have posterior cruciate ligaments. You also need to check your thigh muscles both the quadriceps and hamstrings.

Take an appointment near an orthopedician. Take some pain killers initially and use ice packs for your knees.

Take care!
