Pain - Total Knee Replacement

Pain - Total Knee Replacement

I'm a 66 yr old female, normal weight. Had a total knee replacement six months ago because of a torn ACL, torn meniscus and arthritic knee. The pain is now worse than before I had the replacement surgery. My knee is always swollen, stiff and hot to touch since surgery. I have taken Celebrex that helped the pain but had to stop because my kidney function BU/CU ratio is now elevated. I cannot take other NSAID's because they elevate my blood pressure. I have a history of chronic Lyme disease. I was treated two years ago with six weeks of Rocephin IV Therapy. Could the Lyme disease have settled in my my new knee post operatively? Any suggestions for some relief would be greatly appreciated.

You would have been advised about Physiotherapy.....

There is no solution with surgery alone after a knee replacement. What about your routine Physiotherapy?
You have to work out atleast 4 times a day with simple knee exercises for 3 months. 2 times after that for 6 months and exercise daily all your life finally.

You surgical pain will remain till 4-5 weeks which would be intense than before.

After that with physiotherapy most of your pain will vanish in 12 weeks and for complete pain free and functional knee it would take 6 months atleast.

Take care!
