Pain in foot

I have a pain on the top of my right foot.  It feels like it could be something with my large bone, however, a new pain has started.  When i flex/point my foot, it feels almost like a slinky where it stretches and condenses.  It hurts really bad, and I have no idea what the cause could be.  Any suggestions???

Hi,
How are you? Foot pain may be caused by many different things like trauma, ligament sprains, muscle strains, diabetes, arthritis, tendonitis, peripheral neuropathy etc.
The muscle's bursa and fascia of the foot can be strained by overstretching, overuse, overloading, bruising, or being cut such as in stepping on a sharp object and causing the pain as in your case.

Weakness in contraction of a joint, difficulty in stabilizing body parts, and pain working against resistance are signs of muscle problems. Swelling, tenderness, loss of function, and discoloration over and around the injury of are symptoms of a strain.
Diagnosis can be made with the help of physical examination, x-rays and if required MRI of the joint.
The medical practitioner will examine how the muscles of your foot function. These tests may involve holding or moving your foot and ankle against resistance, you may also asked to stand, walk, or even run.
I would suggest that you visit a orthopaedician for examination and confirmation of the diagnosis.
Best.
