Pain in shoulders and elbows

by soundchange, Apr 02, 2007 12:00AM
Hello everyone, I have had this injury for about 3 years now and I am 19 years old.  It started off with elbow pain after weight lifting, and after physical therapy I started to get Tingly sensations in both hands, and went to a neurologist, where I had an emg done, and he found a little problem, and told me to take vitamin B complex and I would be fine.  I went back to weightlifting and overdid it, and had extreme shoulder pain in both shoulders.  I have since then went to a doctor, who sent me to physical therapy, which didn't help.  In addition out of frustration in the past couple years I have just tried to lift weights even though it was painful to my shoulders, as well as elbows.  So now, I have tightness in my elbows, as well as pain, after lifting weights.  I constantly have tingles in my hands and have a cold feeling most of the time.  My shoulders are very week and shake when I put them in certain positions, such as dropping them to my sides after holding them straight out.  The acual pain in my shoulders becomes very small if I rest, but after any type of weight lifting I have pain on all parts of my shoulders.  I am about to go to another doctor for another opinion but the doctor wants to perform surgery on my shoulder because he says it is loose, I was wondering if the pain in both of my shoulders, could also relate to the pain i feel in my elbows in hands, possibly something to do with my biceps? any information would be helpful, thank you

hello i started a respons to you and lost it so i will sum it up for you. i have experienced the same things that you have. talk to an orthopedic doctor about, impingement syndrome, glenohumeral instabilty and refered pain in your elbows and hands. if you do not stop lifting until you come to a conclusion you may be setting yourself up for a lot of problems, like a massive tear. as far as my symptoms they were, sharp pains near my rotatar cuff when i do almost anything, including just resting, numbness and tingling usually at night, a whloe lot of popping, and pain going down my arm through my ELBOW and resting in the dorsal of my wrist. i had arthroscopic subchromial decompression surgery in august, also they tighhtened the capsule in my shoulder as well. unfortunetely for me they sent me back to work and i am having the same problems all over again. i have to get a compensation lawyer now. well i hope you find out what is wrong, by the way have you had any cortosone shots in your shoulder yet. if you havn't and they want to give you one be aware that it way help for a few weeks and then gett even worst later. DO NOT let them give more that one injection of cortosone ever for the same problem. it can dry up the tissues/ joins and cartalage causing more thing to go wrong or more pain. well i hope you check this forum again let me know how it works out.
