Painful zone near incision after surgery

2 Weeks ago i had an accident and fractured my femur. One week ago i had my surgery, and the orthopedist placed a pin and a plate (I'm not english native so i don't know if that's the correct word). Anyway, i have noticed that close to the incision (but not coming from it), in the outside of my thigh, there is a zone (about 3 cm of radius) that is painful when i touch it (the pain is moderate, about 4 from 0 to 10 being 10 very painful). Also, the zone is very tense, it feel it is very hard when i touch it. I can't bend my knee because of that zone (even though it is about 10 cm away from my knee), i feel like a tie in that zone when i try to bend it. The zone is not read, and it's a little bit swelled.

I haven't had fever, the incision looks very clean. My orthopedist will see me in about a week.. so i'm a little bit worried about this. I called him and explain but he just said to keep an eye on it, if it gets more painful or grows but it haven't changed.

Any idea of what this could be?

Hello!

I would suggest you to maintain complete hygiene and strict asepsis.

You should take NSAIDs and avoid any post operative infection.

Post operative pain will remain for couple of weeks which will slowly decrease.

Get yourself examined by your orthopedic surgeon and follow all instructions.
