Pars Defect

Pars Defect

Hi, I went to the doctor today and found out I have a Pars Defect in my lower back. I had an epidural 5 months ago for labor. When my doctor put the epidural in, I felt great pain, "fire in my legs,"  tingling and extreme pressure in my back.  He had to take it out and replace it also.Afterward, I would fall when I tried to walk (still happens), get back pain, leg pain, arm pain.... etc. I was wondering if there was anyway the Par Defect could be caused by the error during the epidural. This is my guess and I want to see if my assumption is correct.

Hi there!

The pars defect could occur as a part of degeneration, acute trauma or rarely as a congenital abnormality and is unlikely to be related to the epidural. I would suggest getting your symptoms evaluated by a primary care physician for appropriate management.
Hope this information is useful.

Take care!
