Pitching injuries

by Sportsnut, Jun 29, 2009 08:35AM
I was a pitcher in college from 1997 - 2001.  I consistently had elbow and forearm issues throughout my college career and the doctors always told me I had tendinitis in the elbow and I would rest it for a couple months every year.  After my Junior year (2001) it got to the point one day in class I could no longer hold my pen without my hand shaking.  I went to a different doctor and they found that the ulner nerve was pinched off.  I had ulner nerve transposition in 2001.  I was still having issues gaining strength in my hand and forearm.  The doctor did another EMG and they found the nerve in my wrist was pinched off as well.  I then had carpal tunnel surgery to release that nerve.  Still to this day I have issues with my right hand and forearm.  The strength has never come back and my right hand (dominant) is not as strong as my left.  I am not able to lift weights consistently due to the pain and weakness in my hand and forearm.  A couple years ago I went to another doctor to see if there was anything that could be done.  He completed another EMG and said it was possible the nerve could still be pinched off but since the nerve was moved he does not know feel the results are accurate enough to do another surgery.  Has anyone had a similar situation or have any thoughts on what options I have or what other injury there could be?

Try Physiotherapy for pain relief and the final solution is another surgery to correct it. Before that try best to avoid surgery and concentrate on Physio near a good specialist. Take care!
